Finding the Maryland 400 tells the stories of the soldiers who fought heroically at the Battle of Brooklyn in 1776. They held back the British army and allowed many other Americans to escape the battlefield, but took heavy losses. In all, the Marylanders lost 256 men killed or captured.
The book includes biographies of all known members of the Maryland 400, nearly 900 men in total (Learn why they were called the Maryland 400).
The stories of these soldiers before, during, and after the war give compelling insight into the lives of the men and women of the Revolutionary era of American history and the Maryland Line, one of the most celebrated elements of the Continental Army.
This book represents the efforts of many people working for more than a decade, and we are extremely grateful to everyone!

I’d like to purchase at least 10 copies of this book. My son, Jeffrey Truitt worked on this project with Owen Lourie and I would like to pick up the copies in person. Could I get Owen Lourie to sign and acknowledge my son on the copies for Jeffrey? I am available to come during the week, but would like assurances to speak with Owen. John Gunby was our ancestor and we are friends with Mordeci Gist’s and General Smallwood’s decedents. I’d prefer to pick up after Labor Day to avoid the heavy traffic.
